ABSTRACT
Abstract The conversion of carbon dioxide (CO 2 ) to valuable fuels and chemicals offers a new pathway for sustainable clean fixation. Recently, the focus has been on electrochemical CO reduction heterogeneous electrode catalysts, leading remarkable achievements in reaction performance. To date, monoxide (CO) is considered as most promising candidate industrial market, owing its high efficiency reasonable technoeconomic feasibility. Moreover, proposed key intermediate species further reduced hydrocarbons, which can pave way various fuel production. This study sets out describe recent progress heterogeneously catalyzed system. review includes understanding catalytic material employed engineering strategies implemented by adjusting binding energy adsorbates. These design approaches, such nanostructuring, alloying, doping, so forth, have pioneered breakouts intrinsic nature transition metal elements. advances systematic are summarized, with practical applications. Finally, perspectives electrocatalyst materials production presented.
