ABSTRACT
Neuroendocrine tumors (NETs) of the gastroenteropancreatic (GEP) system comprise a rare but challenging group malignant neoplasms and occur at virtually any site GEP system. In 2006, new TNM classification was proposed for staging grading upper NETs.The prognostic relevance analyzed retrospectively in 202 patients from referral center with histologically proven foregut NET. Patients were classified according to previous systems classification. Survival data acquired statistical analyses performed by using log-rank Cox regression testing.Primary gastric (n = 48), duodenal 23), pancreatic 131). During observation period, 21% died. The overall 5- 10-year survival rates 75% 64%, respectively. Previous discriminated between low-grade high-grade NETs did not allow further differentiation. contrast, able differentiate significantly different tumor stages (stages I-III vs stage IV; P < .01) cellular proliferation Ki-67 labeling (grade 1 grade 2, .04; 3 2 3, .01). analysis confirmed an increased risk reduced III or IV NET NET.The current results demonstrated newly significance subgroups both Thus, provides valid powerful tool stratification clinical practice research.
