ABSTRACT
Summary A full hydrometeorological (HM) simulation, from rainfall to impact on urban areas, is a multidisciplinary job, which relies the execution of workflow composed complex and heterogeneous model engines. Moreover, accuracy simulation strongly dependent an extensive set configuration parameters, have be selected in consistent way among models. Within Distributed Research Infrastructure for Hydro‐Meteorology project, Web‐based science gateway was developed with aim support HM researchers designing, executing, managing experiments. The core this portal, takes care generating all files handles steps computing infrastructure high‐performance computing, Grid resources, Cloud resources. This paper presents technological insights about implementation analysis adopted technologies infrastructures. Our experience highlights need coherent policies management data, computational software components that represent ecosystem develop gateways. Copyright © 2015 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
