ABSTRACT
Abstract Objective Inpatient treatment effectively increases body weight and decreases eating disorder symptoms in adolescents with anorexia nervosa (AN). However, there is a high risk of relapse within the first year after discharge, which calls for investigating long‐term success its moderators. Method Female adolescent inpatients AN ( N = 142) were assessed, 85% participated at 1‐year follow‐up. Dependent variables mass index percentiles, symptoms, depressive compulsive exercise life satisfaction. Results On average, increased decreased from admission to discharge remained stable Compulsive satisfaction even improved further Age, duration illness, previous inpatient treatments, length stay readmission moderated changes several outcome variables. Conclusions This study confirms effectiveness demonstrates that effects remain or improve discharge. subgroups patients (e.g., those an older age, longer treatments) require special attention during aftercare prevent relapse.
