ABSTRACT
Abstract The problem of compact, fully efficient representation multilocus data has not yet been solved. Lod scores can be used to map data, but because certain statistical problems, this method loses some information. However, simulation studies show that for distances less than 10 or 20 cMo, where there is little danger huge overestimates distance, the lod score yields estimators just as good maximum likelihood (ML). Since short are most important, quite efficient. Its main drawback misrepresentation under wrong gene orders. This ameliorated with a single multipoint calculation each order. Thus, very practical.
