ABSTRACT
In 27 patients who had bled from esophagogastric varices, large-sized and/or actively bleeding gastric varices were endoscopically obturated with the tissue adhesive butyl cyanoacrylate. Active was stopped in six patients. Rebleeding occurred 10 patients; four patients, rebleeding due to ruptured early and successfully treated by reinjection of varices; one patient, attributed ulceration on an injected varix. Eight died: two (from esophageal or undetermined source), sepsis liver failure at home cause. No specific complication injection observed. The results obtained this series cyanoacrylate are much more satisfactory than those previously published sclerosants.
