ABSTRACT
The aim of this prospective nonrandomized study was to assess the immediate and short-term sequelae transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunting on circulatory hyperdynamic state cirrhotic patient. Twelve procedures were performed in 12 patients for sclerotherapy failure (10 cases) and/or intractable ascites (4 cases). Self-expandable stents 10 mm diameter used all cases. Portal pressure measurement right-heart catheterization before 30 min 1 mo after procedure. portoatrial gradient decreased from 15 +/- 3 7 Hg surgery (p < 0.0001) 8 0.001, comparison with basal values). cardiac index increased 4.5 1.3 5.7 1.5 L/min.m2 0.001) 7.4 1.4 0.001). Systemic vascular resistance 808 323 646 209 dyne.sec.cm-5 0.01) 467 101 0.05). This demonstrates that rapidly significantly worsens Although apparently noninvasive, procedure should be considered caution limited reserve.
