ABSTRACT
Abstract The water residence time of the high mountain seepage lake Gossenköllesee (2413 m, Tyrol, Austria) was determined by measuring flushing rate a tracer substance. During holomixis in July 1997, when circulation occurred throughout entire column, dilute lithium chloride solution injected into causing concentration to rise from background value 0·06 3·1 μg L −1 . derived exponential decline mass between and October holomixis. about 2 months, i.e. volume exchanged twice two periods holomictic conditions.
