ABSTRACT
Abstract In this study, a parameterization method based on Landsat‐7 Enhanced Thematic Mapper (ETM) data and field observations is presented tested for deriving the regional land surface variables, vegetation variables heat fluxes over heterogeneous landscape. As case two ETM images are applied to Jiddah area of Saudi Arabia. The distribution maps reflectance, normalized difference index, modified soil adjusted index (MSAVI), coverage, leaf temperature, net radiation flux, sensible flux latent have been determined area. derived results validated by using ‘ground truth’. show that more reasonable distributions (surface temperature), (MSAVI coverage), radiation, can be obtained proposed in study. Further improvement also discussed. Copyright © 2006 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
