Abstract Many branches of medicine rely heavily on lab tests to monitor client treatment response and use this information modify their treatment. By contrast, those who offer psychological interventions seldom formal assessments (lab tests) clients' Data are presented that demonstrate clinicians rarely accurately predict will not benefit from psychotherapy. This finding is contrasted with the a questionnaire test data) decision rules basis client's expected progress. Results have indicated methods monitoring were able identify 100% patients whose condition had deteriorated at termination, 85% by time they attended three sessions.
