ABSTRACT
Mulberroside A is a natural polyhydroxylated stilbene compound present at relatively high abundance in the roots and twigs of Morus alba L. It known for its nephroprotective, hypoglycemic, antidiabetic effects. Because metabolite, oxyresveratrol, possessed purported anti-inflammatory neuroprotective effects, we proposed that mulberroside may elicit effects can be used treatment brain ischemic injury. Therefore, decided to investigate pharmacological properties primary culture rat cortical neurons after oxygen–glucose deprivation followed by reperfusion (OGD/R), evaluating ability counteract hypoxia–ischemia impairment. The results showed elicited comparable nimodipine. mechanistic studies decreased expressions tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), interleukin (IL)−1β, IL-6 inhibited activation NALP3, caspase-1, nuclear factor-κB phosphorylation extracellular signal-regulated protein kinases, c-Jun N-terminal kinase, p38, exhibiting antiapoptotic Our also further demonstrate proinflammatory cytokines IL-1β, IL-6, TNF-α are promising targets cerebral Although investigation required development, all these findings led us speculate candidate stroke, which would act as multifactorial neuroprotectant. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
