ABSTRACT
Abstract We have examined the region‐specific expression of mRNAs for four members rat FGF receptor family, FGFR‐1, FGFR‐2, FGFR‐3, and FGFR‐4, in brain by situ hybridization. The FGFR‐3 were expressed widely but differentially brain. However, FGFR‐4 mRNA was not FGFR‐1 strongly several regions including hippocampus, cerebellum, pedunculoptine tegmental nucleus. FGFR‐2 high choroid plexus, moderate fiber‐rich (the corpus callosum, external capsule, internal capsule) olfactory bulb. diffusely also cellular localization these Although preferentially neurons, glial cells. present findings that with region‐and cell‐specificity indicate receptors different roles © 1994 Wiley‐Liss, Inc.
