ABSTRACT
Abstract Effects of extra nitrogen (N) input on biomass production, the concentration N and phosphorus (P) in plant material, net mineralization were studied during three growing seasons a dry acidophilous grassland dominated by Festuca ovina where tall grass Calamagrostis epigejos was aggressively expanding. In contrast to grassland, stand utilized more due higher microbial demands for soil mineral N, which could prevent losses. Additional supply resulted increased mainly expanding Calamagrostis. There no effect addition production , while significant increase total observed grassland. This entirely accounted root weight. Concentrations aboveground both as result addition. However, P concentrations reduced, being enhanced The : ratio significantly vegetation types following addition, although reaching values than species compensated availability with uptake compared Festuca.
