ABSTRACT
Objectives/Hypothesis Emerging literature has documented the effectiveness of intralesional steroid injection as an alternative treatment for benign vocal fold disorders. However, clinical application is frequently limited by associated technical demands adequate anesthesia and precise needle placement. This study investigated applicability more practical less technically demanding method transnasal endoscopic (TESI). Study Design Prospective case series. Methods recruited 30 patients with nodules polyps. Dexamethasone was injected into Reinke's space under local via operating channel a flexible laryngoscope in office setting. Treatment outcome were measured before, 1 month after, 3 months after injection, using videolaryngostroboscopy (VLS), maximal phonation time (MPT), 10‐item voice handicap index (VHI‐10), acoustic analysis, perceptual evaluation. Results VLS examinations at post‐treatment demonstrated that lesions 10 19 resolved or reduced, respectively. Objective measurements showed increased MPT decreased VHI‐10 ( P < .05 .01, respectively). Acoustic analysis revealed significant decrease jitter shimmer .05). Perceptual evaluation GRB (grade, roughness, breathiness) scale also improved quality .01). outcomes similar between polyps > Mild hematoma occurred three following TESI, but spontaneously within month. Conclusions TESI simple office‐based modality lesions, suitable most otolaryngologists. subjective objective improvements comparable to results other procedures reported literature. Level Evidence 4.
