ABSTRACT
This work examined observationally the Urban Heat Island (UHI) of Manaus city, Brazil. For this, data collected from two different sites, in an urban area and a region forest about 30 km for period 2000–2008, were used. The results show that environment creates local increase temperature decrease relative humidity. annual average observed between sites can reach differences temperatures around 3 °C humidity close to 1.7%. An interesting feature UHI is associated with diurnal cycle differs other studies locations world, peaks highest intensity, one at 0800 LST 1500 1700 LST. It also highlighted tends heat first more slowly cool down later faster than forest, which explains distinct behaviour UHI. obtained knowledge allows implementation policies methodologies aim improve quality life comfort large cities, such as those studied.
