Implication of high‐body‐fat percentage on cardiometabolic risk in middle‐aged, healthy, normal‐weight adults

ABSTRACT
This study investigated the number of Korean adults who had a normal body mass index (BMI) but high body-fat percentage (BF%) and determined their increased risk factors for cardiovascular diseases, including blood pressure, hyperglycemia, dyslipidemia.This cross-sectional was based on 12,386 subjects (6,534 men 5,852 women), with BMI, between 30 49 years age. Subjects were categorized into two groups by BF% (normal group, <25 men, <30 women; BF(%) ≥25 ≥30 women).The proportion BMI 12.7% (n = 1,572; 291 [4.5%] 1,281 [21.9%] women). significantly higher prevalence pressure (men only), dyslipidemia. Multiple logistic regression analyses revealed that 1.63 (adjusted odds ratio, 95% confidence interval: 1.21-2.19) in 1.56 1.36-1.80) women one or more compared to even after adjusting abdominal obesity.High is associated cardiometabolic risks, regardless obesity, normal-weight adults. Thus, follow-up screening those may be necessary detect prevent particularly BMI.
