ABSTRACT
We tested the hypothesis that there are three major prototypic patterns of personality description (resilient, overcontrolled, and undercontrolled) in a series studies including adults' self‐descriptions on Big Five parents' Q‐Sort judgments their children, using both replicated cluster analyses Q‐factor analyses. The consistency prototypes across ages, judges, methods was quantitatively measured. results confirmed all studies. Personality, social relationship, interaction correlates indicated externalizing tendencies for undercontrollers internalizing overcontrollers children adults. provide strong evidence three‐prototype model at highest level analysis childhood adulthood.
