ABSTRACT
Abstract Polyurethanes cover a large range of materials exhibiting various physical and mechanical properties making them useful in different applications such as elastomers or biomaterials, for instance. The introduction ionic groups the polyurethane backbone opens way to new where can act crosslinkers that greatly modify final thermal materials. Furthermore, hydrophilicity chains be enhanced by presence species, so processed conventional dispersions even polar solvent water. As consequence are numerous; main commercial outlets focused on coatings textiles industries they used waterproof substitutes leather. But these also high‐tech shape memory materials, biomedical devices biocompatible This review summarizes latest developments this class promising provides reader with potentialities polymers areas.
