ABSTRACT
Angelica sinensis (Oliv.) Diels (DG), Ligusticum chuanxiong Hort. (CX) and Rheum palmatum L. (DH), three well known traditional Chinese medicines (TCM), have been used widely for the treatment of various types disorders in China. Herb–drug interactions, especially cytochrome P450 (CYP)-mediated cause an enhancement or attenuation efficacy co-administered drugs. In this study, to assess possible interactions between TCM drugs, effect water ethanol extracts DG, CX DH on were studied rats. The activities CYP enzymes determined by HPLC method. Treatment rats with at daily dosages equivalent 3 g (dry herbal material)/kg all increased microsome protein contents decreased total levels. extract DG strongly CYP2D6 3A significantly activity 2D6. other showed inhibition against isoforms. Only activities, respectively, level All treatments had significant effects isoforms whether induction inhibition, compared blank control. Thus, caution should be paid drug CX, substrates.
