ABSTRACT
Abstract Prompt and robust bone regeneration has been clinically achieved using supraphysiological doses of morphogenetic protein‐2 (BMP‐2) to overcome the short half‐life rapid clearance. However, uncontrolled burst release exogenous BMP‐2 causes severe complications such as heterotopic ossification soft tissue inflammation. Therefore, numerous researches have focused on developing a new delivery system for sustained profile by immobilizing in various polymeric vehicles. Herein, avoid denaturation enhance therapeutic action via localized delivery, complex coacervate consisting fucoidan, marine‐derived glycosaminoglycan, poly‐ l ‐lysine (PLL) is fabricated. Superior binding ability electrostatic interaction‐driven engulfment enable facile highly efficient microencapsulation BMP‐2. The significantly improves bioactivity provides protection against antagonist proteolysis, while allowing prolonged release. Moreover, containing coated conventional collagen sponges. regenerating are confirmed through vitro (human‐derived stem cells), vivo (calvarial defect model) evaluations.
