ABSTRACT
High temperature confocal scanning laser microscopy (HT‐CSLM) is used to study the dissolution behavior of Al 2 O 3 inclusions in various slag compositions system CaO‐Al ‐SiO ‐MgO. This method enables situ observation at steelmaking temperatures. The change diameter spherical inclusion measured by image analysis pictures obtained from HT‐CSLM. Subsequently, rates and normalized curves are determined, governing mechanism identified use a modified approach diffusion equation introduced Feichtinger et al. compared with SiO previously reported same authors. Finally, effective binary coefficients calculated. Slag viscosity shown essentially affect behavior, changing pattern rather S‐shaped (high viscosity) parabolic form (low viscosity).
