ABSTRACT
The effects of applying external stress on bainite transformation, microstructure, and mechanical properties are investigated by metallography, dilatometry, etc. Results show that compressive during transformation accelerates the increases final amount due to additional driving force. lath‐like becomes shorter, smaller blocky martensite/austenite islands form under reaction. Different from results with after isothermal holding cannot increase volume fraction bainite, no obvious change in morphology is observed. In addition, subsequent martensite promoted cooling process. Moreover, less retained austenite (RA) but more carbon content RA obtained Finally, tensile strength increases, while elongation decreases when imposed transformation.
