ABSTRACT
Abstract The current study investigated the protective effects of green tea polyphenols (GTPP) on TBT‐induced oxidative damage. results showed that reactive oxygen species (ROS) production and malondialdehyde content liver in mice exposed to TBT were reduced GTPP‐treated group compared untreated group. intracellular ROS level was elevated TBT‐treated human FL cells a time‐dependent manner. Comet assay data demonstrated number with damaged DNA found be significantly higher mice. Damage nuclei mitochondria observed alleviated treated both GTPP. represent first observation GTPP effective reducing damage vivo vitro . possible mechanism may due powerful ability scavenge prevent breaks. We conclude could an agent or food supplement reduce cytotoxicity TBT. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Environ Toxicol, 2008.
