ABSTRACT
It is not known whether polycystic ovaries (PCO) are an ovarian appearance without pathological meaning or they share with ovary syndrome (PCOS) the same follicle abnormality. There few studies including strictly selected women PCO but other criteria of PCOS. In order to address these issues, we compared hormonal, metabolic and ultrasound parameters obtained from patients only, PCOS controls. This was a comparative analysis three age-matched groups 95 patients, who were included consecutively in database: controls, sonographic no symptoms (PCO group) A clinical examination, fasting serum sampling pelvic examination performed between cycle days 2 5 results groups. The median anti-Mullerian hormone (AMH) level group intermediate that controls (33.6 pmol/L, 19.8 pmol/L 63.3 respectively), differences being significant after adjustment for number (P < 0.05), while mean androgen similar control significantly lower than 0.05) (median testosterone levels: 0.90 nmol/L, 0.79 nmol/L 1.39 nmol/L; androstenedione 5.25 4.37 6.09 respectively). Body mass index, waist circumference insulin levels had effect on differences.PCO abnormal condition, affected showing evidence hyperandrogenism having higher AMH suggesting granulosa cell abnormality observed The absence does seem linked status.
