ABSTRACT
To prospectively test the diagnostic performance of five published mathematical models including gray scale and power Doppler ultrasound variables for calculating risk malignancy in women with postmenopausal bleeding (PMPB) sonographic endometrial thickness >4.5 mm. 557 consecutive patients PMPB (ET) mm underwent a standardized transvaginal gray-scale examination by one two experienced sonologists. The was calculated using each models. gold standard histological diagnosis endometrium. Model expressed as area under receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC) sensitivity specificity regard to when previously recommended cut-off values indicate malignancy. In all, 387 fulfilled our inclusion criteria, i.e. 296 benign endometrium 91 malignant AUC were slightly smaller than original set used model development (training set) (0.84 - 0.88 versus 0.85 0.92). Using established malignancy, lower training 2–12 percentage units (64-84% 75-90%), while similar (75-90% 79-92%). As ET, heterogeneous echogenicity areas densely packed vessels at had best (AUC 0.88) Temporal validation showed only small decline compared their set. are now undergoing external validation.
