ABSTRACT
Circumvallate placenta is a morphological placental abnormality in which the chorionic plate smaller than basal plate, resulting folding back of and fetal membranes towards surface. There have been numerous reports on antenatal diagnosis circumvallate using two-dimensional (2D) three-dimensional ultrasound1-4, however, to best our knowledge, this first present HDlive silhouette mode imaging for prenatal placenta. A 26-year-old pregnant Japanese primigravida was referred hospital at 14 + 5 weeks' gestation because suspected tumor. 2D sonography (Voluson E8, GE Healthcare Ultrasound, Milwaukee, WI, USA) showed single live fetus with biometry consistent gestational age. Placental examination revealed an increased thickness (29 mm) irregular anechoic areas periphery Subsequent color Doppler no blood flow within these areas. slightly curved edge umbilical cord attached center demonstrated elevated lobule located At 16 gestation, depicted clearly central depression thick edges folded upon themselves, forming rolled-up margins (Figure 1).
