ABSTRACT
Abstract Objective To determine whether a modified myocardial performance index (Mod‐MPI) involving assessment of the movements (clicks) mitral valve (MV) and aortic (AV), improves intra‐ interobserver agreement as compared to previously reported method for MPI estimation. Methods The Mod‐MPI was recorded by two experienced operators in left cardiac chambers 25 normally grown fetuses using pulsed Doppler ultrasonography. isovolumetric contraction time (ICT) measured from closure MV opening AV, ejection (ET) relaxation (IRT) AV MV. calculated ( ICT + IRT )/ET. In addition, estimated without clicks (F‐MPI) described. Intra‐ were then analyzed both modalities. Results There significantly lower inter‐observer variability estimation all periods with than F‐MPI (ICT: intra‐observer, 9.9% vs. 13.9%; 15.6%; IRT: intraobserver, 14.8%; 10.4% 18.3%; ET: 4.5% 6.1%; 2.8% 5.2%, respectively). Intraclass correlation coefficient (IntraCC) 0.8 (95% confidence interval CI), 0.56–0.9) F‐MPI, IntraCC 0.62 CI, 0.26–0.84); P = 0.01. Agreement between observers showed mean difference 0.0 95% limits (LA) −0.09 −0.1 −0.075) 0.09 0.075–0.1) −0.01 LA −0.26 −0.3 −0.22) 0.25 0.21–0.29). Conclusion Calculation based on echoes is associated variation better inter‐ intraobserver used fetal evaluation. Copyright © 2005 ISUOG. Published John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
