ABSTRACT
To compare the ability of two-dimensional (2D) and three-dimensional (3D) hydrosonography to discriminate between benign malignant endometrium in women with postmenopausal bleeding (PMB) endometrial thickness 4.5 mm more. Of 170 consecutive patients PMB more, 94 underwent 2D 3D followed by hysteroscopic resection focal lesions/endometrium, dilatation curettage or hysterectomy. The scans were videotaped saved electronically for later independent analysis two experienced examiners using a customized research protocol. Their agreed description uterine cavity (number lesions, surface regularity lesions endometrium) was used statistical analysis. Sensitivity, specificity, positive negative likelihood ratios (LR+, LR−) regard malignancy calculated. histological diagnosis gold standard. In five hydrosonograhies 10 hydrosonographies experts judged it impossible evaluate cavity. 84 (70 benign, 14 malignant) cases be fully evaluative both methods. For methods ultrasound variable that best discriminated irregular lesion: sensitivity 0.71 (10/14), specificity 0.97 (68/70), LR+ 25.0 LR− 0.3 hydrosonography, 0.43 (6/14), 15 0.6 hydrosonography. Reviewing videotapes superior analyzing volumes discrimination
