ABSTRACT
Fibroids are common, hormone-dependent, benign uterine tumors. They can cause significant morbidity and the symptoms depend largely on their size. The aim of this study was to describe natural history fibroids identify factors that may influence growth.This a retrospective longitudinal premenopausal women who were diagnosed with ultrasound examination. All underwent at least two transvaginal scans, which all performed by single operator. measured in three perpendicular planes mean diameter calculated. size position every individual fibroid assessed recorded computerized database. volume each calculated using formula for sphere.A total 122 included study. Their median age initial examination 40 (range, 27-45) years. Seventy-two (59.0%) nulliparous 74 (60.7%) had multiple fibroids. interval between final 21.5 8-90) months. increased 35.2% per year. Small (< 20 mm diameter) grew significantly faster than larger (P = 0.007). increase higher cases intramural (53.2 (interquartile range (IQR), 11.2-217)%) subserous (25.1 (IQR, 1.1-87.1)%) submucous (22.8 - 11.7 48.3)%) 0.012). Multivariate analysis retained only presentation as an independent predictor growth.The growth is influenced tumor's presentation.
