ABSTRACT
Abstract The female giant panda ( Ailuropoda melanoleuca ) has a characteristic reproductive physiology that involves defined breeding season, embryonic diapause and potential for pseudopregnancy. hormonal variation related to these characteristics may be factor contributing pathologies. In this case report, open pyometra was diagnosed in panda. Clinical signs included lethargy, anorexia mucopurulent vulvar discharge. Diagnostic tests performed complete blood cell count, plasma biochemistry, protein electrophoresis, cytology, culture sensitivity abdominal ultrasonography. Treatment consisted of systemic antibiotics based on sensitivity. Response treatment monitored via ultrasonography visual examination the region. Two weeks after treatment, resolved no subsequent complications were seen. This is first reported Pyometra should considered as differential diagnosis entire pandas presenting with abnormal clinical following season.
