ABSTRACT
Abstract Three types of multibody models are presented for the investigation internal dynamics a drive train in wind turbine. The first approach is limited to analysis torsional vibrations only. Then rigid model with special focus on representation bearings and gears train. generic implementation can be used parallel as well planetary gear stages both helical spur gears. Examples different describe use formulations. Furthermore, influence helix angle flexibility results eigenmode calculations discussed. eigenmodes stage classified rotational, translational or out‐of‐plane modes. Thirdly, extension flexible method include directly components' flexibilities. Finally, comparison two modelling techniques discussed turbine's stages. In addition, response calculation torque input at generator demonstrates which excited through this path. Copyright © 2005 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
