ABSTRACT
HnRNP proteins are abundant nucleoplasmic pre-mRNA-binding which have important roles in the biogenesis of mRNA. Although hnRNP been extensively characterized cultured cell lines, little is known about their expression animal tissues. Here, we undertaken a systematic survey major mouse tissue using specific monoclonal antibodies. Immunohistochemical staining demonstrated that C, L, and U were localized to nuclei all tissues examined. However, cytoplasmic A1, D, F/H, K was also detected several tissues, suggesting these cytoplasm as well nucleus. Importantly, relative amounts different varied among types. This especially striking neuronal reproductive cells. In brain, certain types contained more than glial cells, perhaps reflecting increased levels transcription RNA processing. ovary, oocytes exceptionally high concentrations compared follicular stromal testis, generally found be tightly regulated during spermatogenesis. Specifically, A1 highly expressed only early spermatogonia absent later stages. These findings demonstrate do not exist fixed stoichiometry across Furthermore, (e.g., ASF/SF2) can affect alternative splicing patterns, variations observed could profoundly cell-specific gene expression.
