ABSTRACT
While having a low specific weight, such materials or structures made of them have a high unit strength and stiffness due to a favorable combination of the mechanical properties of several components. Since the fracture of reinforced materials is complex in nature, it is very interesting to study the feasibility of using nondestructive inspection methods -particularly acoustic emission -to study features of their fracture at different stages of loading.
