ABSTRACT
The article presents the results of the theoretical and experimental investigation of low-temperature intermittent yield for the state of uniaxial stress. It describes the mechanisms of appearance and the kinetics of stress jumps upon loss of thermal and plastic stability. It deals with the role of strain-hardening of material at the appearance and development of intermittent yield. It formulates the conditions of realization of intermittent yield and failure of a rod upon a jump of strain and stress.
