ABSTRACT
Abstract Semipurified diets containing ratios of α‐linolenic acid (18∶3ω3) to linoleic (18∶2ω6) 1/32, 1/7, 1/1, and 3.5/1 in the form corn oil, soybean soybean/linseed oil mix linseed were fed rats for 2 months. The first 3 another group 4 months a through second generation. Fatty analysis liver spleen ethanolamine glycerophosphatide revealed that, as level 18∶3ω3 diet increased, elongated, desaturated metabolites ω6 series decreased ω3 increased. Noteworthy was depression amount precursor 2‐series prostaglandins (PG) levels Synthesis PG by or markedly decreased, but at thymus spleen, it showed trend toward decreasing only. Brain slices no decrease PGF 2α synthesis after months, did significantly feeding PGE homogenate from generation also decreased. replacement fatty acids is explained effective competition over 18∶2ω6 Δ6 desaturase. Depressions high dietary competitive inhibition synthetase complex 20∶5ω3 well 20∶4ω6.
