ABSTRACT
A questionnaire was sent to members of the American Society Colon and Rectal Surgeons. Four hundred forty-five (43.6%) were tabulated establish criteria results surgical treatment hemorrhoidal disease. The most frequent indication for surgery, internal external hemorrhoids with mucosal prolapse. Significant differences found in time required complete healing, frequency wound dehiscence, postoperative stenosis, infection. Results did not support opinions that closed technique associated significantly less pain, fewer complications, shorter hospital stay or earlier resumption work.
