ABSTRACT
A bstract We employ scattering amplitudes in curved space to model the dynamics of a light probe particle with mass m orbiting background spacetime induced by heavy gravitational source M . Observables are organized as an expansion m/M all orders G — self-force expansion. An essential component our analysis is backreaction which we capture including associated degrees freedom. As illustration consider Schwarzschild and verify geodesic motion well first-order correction two-body through $$\mathcal{O}$$ ( 3 ). Amplitudes offer several advantages, further developments along these lines may advance computation gravitational-wave signals for extreme-mass-ratio inspirals.
