ABSTRACT
A bstract We study the prospects of observing non-resonant di-Higgs pair production in Standard Model (SM) at high luminosity run 14 TeV LHC (HL-LHC), upon combining multiple final states chosen on basis their yield and cleanliness. In particular, we consider $$ b\overline{b}\gamma \gamma,\ b\overline{b}{\tau}^{+}{\tau}^{-},\ b\overline{b}W\ {W}^{\ast },\ W\ {W}^{\ast}\gamma \gamma <mml:math xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"> <mml:mi>b</mml:mi> <mml:mover> <mml:mo>¯</mml:mo> </mml:mover> <mml:mi>γ</mml:mi> <mml:mo>,</mml:mo> <mml:mspace /> <mml:msup> <mml:mi>τ</mml:mi> <mml:mo>+</mml:mo> </mml:msup> <mml:mo>−</mml:mo> <mml:mi>W</mml:mi> <mml:mo>∗</mml:mo> </mml:math> 4 W channels mostly focusing with photons and/or leptons 11 states. employ multivariate analyses to optimise discrimination between signal backgrounds find it performing better than simple cut-based analyses. The various differential distributions for Higgs have non-trivial dependencies self-coupling ( λ hhh ). thus explore implications varying most sensitive search channel double production, viz. , . number events originating from SM each state is small this reason measurement may not be possible. order extract quartic coupling, rely total these can contaminated by new physics scenarios. Furthermore, beyond standard model scenarios quantify effects contamination while trying measure signals detail. generic resonant heavy decays a SM-like bosons or top quarks, pseudoscalar decaying an Z -boson, charged association bottom quark also well-motivated supersymmetric channels. set limits cross-sections aforementioned scenarios, above which seen as excesses over background affect coupling. discuss correlations among useful identify model.
