ABSTRACT
We analyse the Weak Gravity Conjecture for chiral four-dimensional F-theory compactifications with N = 1 supersymmetry. Extending our previous work on nearly tensionless heterotic strings in six dimensions, we show that under certain assumptions a tower of asymptotically massless states arises limit vanishing coupling U(1) gauge symmetry coupled to gravity. This contains super-extremal whose charge-to-mass ratios are larger than those extremal dilatonic Reissner-Nordström black holes, precisely as required by Conjecture. Unlike does not always populate charge sub-lattice. The main tool analysis is elliptic genus emergent string supersymmetric effective theories. also governs situations where non-perturbative. how it can be computed terms BPS invariants four-folds, making use various dualities and mirror symmetry. Compared geometry relevant elliptically fibered four-folds substantially richer three-folds, classify possibilities obtaining critical, strings. find (quasi-)modular properties crucially depend choice flux background. Our general results illustrated detailed example.
