ABSTRACT
A bstract We analyse hypercharge flux GUT breaking in F-theory/Type IIB models with regards to its implications for anomaly cancellation and gauge coupling unification. To this aim we exploit the Type limit consider 7-brane configurations that first time are guaranteed exhibit net restriction matter curves. show local F-theory anomalies of type U(1) Y −U(1) 2 massless spectrum can be consistent only if such additional U(1)s globally geometrically massive (in sense they arise from non-Kähler deformations Calabi-Yau four-fold). Further, cases induce new $ \mathrm{U}(1)_Y^2-\mathrm{U}(1) spectrum, violating constraints forbidding anomalies. In particular implies it is possible construct exhibiting a PQ global symmetry which have doublet-triplet splitting no further exotics. also known induced couplings at tree-level reduced by factor 5 employing more F-theoretic twisting bringing well within MSSM 2-loop results. case curves becomes involved, tied vacuum expectation values certain closed-string fields, therefore unification question moduli stabilisation.
