ABSTRACT
Accumulation of fat in the liver and skeletal muscle is associated with obesity poor health outcomes. Liver steatosis a characteristic non-alcoholic fatty disease (NAFLD) myosteatosis, quality sarcopenia. In this study 403 men (33-96 years), we investigated associations between index (FLI) density, as markers accumulation these organs. We also FLI parameters sarcopenia, including DXA-derived appendicular lean mass (ALM) handgrip strength by dynamometry. Muscle density was measured using pQCT at radius tibia. calculated from BMI, waist circumference, levels triglycerides gamma-glutamyltransferase. There pattern decreasing across increasing quartiles FLI. After adjusting for age lifestyle, mean radial Q4 2.1% lower than Q1 (p < 0.001) tibial 1.8% Q3 3.0% Q4, compared to = 0.022 0.001, respectively). sedentary participants highest quartile were sixfold more likely have conclusion, our results suggest that co-exists infiltration into muscle.
