Worse Hospital Outcomes for Children and Adults with COVID-19 and Congenital Heart Disease

ABSTRACT
The aim of the current study is to investigate hospitalization outcomes COVID-19 positive children and adults with moderate or severe congenital heart disease without disease. Retrospective review using Vizient Clinical Data Base for admissions patients an ICD-10 code from April 2020 March 2021. Admissions (CHD) were stratified into pediatric (< 18 years) adult (≥ hospital compared. There 9478 admissions, 160 (1.7%) CHD, 658,230 389 (0.06%) CHD. Pediatric CHD younger (1 vs 11 years), had longer length stay (22 6 days), higher complication rates (6.9 1.1%), mortality (3.8, 0.8%), costs ($54,619 10,731; p < 0.001 all). Adult (53 64 years, 0.001), (12 9 days, (8 4.8%, = 0.003), ($23,551 13,311, 0.001). This appears be first report increased morbidities affected by COVID-19. Our hope that these findings will help counsel moving forward during pandemic.
