ABSTRACT
Abstract Introduction We aimed to carry out a retrospective study from single institution determine whether radioactive iodine (RAI) ablation decreases the risk of recurrence papillary thyroid microcarcinoma (PTMC) patients that presented with lateral lymph node metastasis (LLNM). Methods retrospectively analyzed total 6361 consecutive PTMC who initially underwent surgery for treatment carcinoma at First Hospital Jilin University, between January 2005 and February 2015. Altogether, 137 LLNM have been enrolled in our study. Results The disease‐free survival period was significantly shorter RAI (−) than (+) ( p = 0.0074 by log‐rank test). rates 5 10 years were 93.02 87.5%, respectively, group 100 96.81%, group. CLNM ratio factors identified multivariate analysis Cox’s proportional hazards method yielding ratios 7.281 [CI 1.804–17.554; 0.010] 1.157 1.0125–9.381; 0.048] Conclusion Taken together, may be beneficial LLNM, especially when or greater 0.5.
