ABSTRACT
The purpose of this prospective multicenter study was to assess the safety and technical feasibility volumetric Magnetic Resonance-guided High Intensity Focused Ultrasound (MR-HIFU) ablation for treatment patients with symptomatic uterine fibroids. Thirty-three 36 fibroids were treated MR-HIFU ablation. Treatment capability assessed by comparison Non-Perfused Volumes (NPVs) MR thermal dose predicted volumes. Safety determined evaluation complications or adverse events unintended lesions. Secondary endpoints pain discomfort scores, recovery time length hospital stay. mean NPV calculated as a percentage total fibroid volume 21.7%. Correlation between volumes NPVs found be very strong, correlation coefficient r 0.87. All tolerated well on an outpatient basis. No serious reported normal activities 2.3 ± 1.8 days. This proved that is safe technically feasible • Magnetic-resonance-guided high intensity focused ultrasound allows non-invasive Volumetric feedback novel technology larger MR-guided appears using
