ABSTRACT
The aims of the study were to develop sex- and age-specific percentiles for lean mass index (LMI), appendicular LMI (aLMI), fat (FMI), body distribution indices in Chinese adults using dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA), compare those with other ethnicities US NHANES data.Whole-body regional (FM) measured DXA 5688 healthy males (n = 1693) females 3995) aged 20-90 years. Body expressed as % trunk/% legs, trunk/appendicular FM ratio (FMR), android/gynoid FMR. Percentile curves LMI, aLMI, FMI, obtained by Lambda-Mu-Sigma method. The aLMI negatively associated age, decreasing from fifth decade males, but not age females. Females had more total than whereas greater central adiposity (% legs ratio, FMR, FMR) Moreover, FMI consistently increased both sexes, especially women. In comparison white, black, Mexican populations USA, lower FM, FMR). Additionally, older white showed decreases their counterparts. We present adults, which may refine individual assessment nutritional status adults.
