ABSTRACT
Abstract Purpose We investigated the cardiovascular individual response to 6 weeks (3×/week) of work-matched within severe-intensity domain (high-intensity interval training, HIIT) or moderate-intensity (moderate-intensity continuous MICT). In addition, we analyzed factors at baseline underlying variability. Methods 42 healthy sedentary participants were randomly assigned HIIT MICT. applied region practical equivalence-method for identifying levels responders maximal oxygen uptake (V̇O 2max ) response. For investigating influence markers, trained a Bayesian machine learning model on markers. Results Despite that and MICT induced significant increases in V̇O , had greater improvements than ( p < 0.001). Greater variability was observed MICT, with approximately 50% classified as “non-responder” “undecided”. 20 “responders”, one “undecided” no “non-responders” HIIT. The ∆V̇O associated initial cardiorespiratory fitness, arterial stiffness, left-ventricular (LV) mass LV end-diastolic diameter HIIT; whereas, microvascular responsiveness right-ventricular (RV) excursion velocity showed association Conclusion Our findings highlight critical exercise-intensity domains biological incidence third group; “responders” 11 out 21 associations LV-morphology; it RV systolic function
