ABSTRACT
Abstract The prevalence of obesity in adolescents is rising, including those with kidney failure. Obesity increases the risk complications during dialysis and may be associated poorer outcomes after transplantation. Bariatric surgery has been found safe effective adults on dialysis. This Clinical Insights about a 14-year-old female failure obesity. She was initially managed peritoneal but subsequently gained further weight. Multiple interventions for weight loss were unsuccessful, switch to haemodialysis. patient underwent laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy extensive multidisciplinary assessment. lost > 30 kg over 6 months (BMI decreased from 48 32 kg/m 2 ) which made it possible her activated deceased donor transplant waiting list.
