ABSTRACT
Radiotherapy (RTH) usually combined with chemotherapy (C-RTH) is the main method of treatment in head and neck cancer (HNC). The most common complication RTH oral mucositis (OM). At a certain stage RTH, it occurs almost all patients, often lead to discontinuation treatment. Tumour necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α) cytokine secreted during inflammatory process accompanying development itself. Single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) TNF-α promoter region can potentially affect function or expression this cytokine, thus modulate risk occurrence intensity OM shortening overall survival (OS).The study group consisted 62 patients HNC whom intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) technique was applied. plasma level assessed using ELISA Kit. Genotyping performed real-time PCR method.HNC CC genotype (- 1211 T > C) have higher concentrations than those allele (10.70 vs 9.62 ng/ml). Patients 3rd degree significantly levels after 5th (10.40 9.45 ng/ml) 7th (10.32 9.60 week RTH. related last weeks (5th, OR = 7.33; 7th, 23.15).High concentration are more severe irradiated due HNC. High independent prognostic factors for subjected
