ABSTRACT
Our previous study revealed the efficacy and safety of large balloon dilation (LBD) technique. However, there is insufficient objective data about recurrence rate. The aim this was to compare rate common bile duct (CBD) stones between patients treated with without LBD.Patients recurrent CBD April 2006 August 2010, who had a history endoscopic sphincterotomy (ES), were enrolled. Patients excluded if they diameter less than 10 mm or their largest stone <10 mm.A total 62 consecutive investigated. From November 2007, 32 LBD (non-LBD group; historical control). December 2007 30 underwent (LBD group). median follow-up times in non-LBD groups 517 1034 days (p < 0.001), respectively. Kaplan-Meier analysis significantly lower incidence group = 0.048).LBD reduces short-term ES.
