ABSTRACT
Abstract Molecular studies have shown that Liparis s.l. is polyphyletic, with the epiphytic alliance well separated from clade representing in its restricted sense and further forming a phylogenetically heterogeneous assemblage. The generic status of Cestichis , as key member alliance, remains contentious, relationships between Stichorkis Platystyliparis are still unclear need studies. We herein employ DNA sequence data nuclear ITS plastid mat K regions to clarify boundaries relationship allied genera. Results both Bayesian inference maximum likelihood analysis congruently indicate currently circumscribed not monophyletic. Blepharoglossum clade, corresponding commonly recognized sect. forms monophyletic lineage closely related genus Oberonia instead core clade. A re-evaluation diagnostic morphological characters reveals this represents morphologically distinct group. Based on these results, removed elevated status. Our study also sheds light homoplastic nature some used traditionally taxonomy Malaxidinae.
